Photo Seperations, Color Mixing
For my screen printing project, I explored the process of creating a CMYK color composite using a photo I captured at my favorite hotel, the Polynesian Resort and Spa. To bring this vibrant image to life, I employed a cross-shaped halftone technique, carefully adjusting the angle of each halftone layer to achieve the proper alignment for full-color reproduction. Each CMYK layer—cyan, magenta, yellow, and black—was individually printed, showcasing how the colors appear on white paper. I then experimented with various color combinations of the layers, culminating in a final print that beautifully merged all four to recreate the rich, tropical essence of the original photograph. This project allowed me to dive into the intricate interplay of color theory and printing techniques while celebrating a space that holds personal significance.
